Online Therapy

How does it work?

If you've ever been in therapy, basically it works the same. The only difference is that instead of sitting face to face in the same room, we are facing our computers, connecting via videoconference.

What are the advantages of online therapy?

There are many; the most obvious is the flexibility and accessibility to services. This medium gives us the opportunity to work wherever we are. It also reduces the possibility of missing a session, since we can work even when you are away.

Being able to work from the place of your choosing, online therapy offers comfort, privacy and security. It also has other advantages, it saves time, avoid traffic and parking problems.

Are there disadvantages?

This is open to debate. Some say -and there is even research that confirms it- that it is exactly the same, while others claim that will never be like meeting face to face. While it would be difficult to deny that in-person therapy is ideal, connecting online has become so common that often the differences are hardly felt.
Perhaps the biggest challenge has to do with the quality of the Internet connection. A bad connection can make communication difficult between client and therapist. If the connection is fast, the disadvantages are very few.
